(KOKOMO) - The City of Kokomo learned this week that it topped the charts last year when it came to progress in employment.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics ranked Kokomo No. 3 in the United States for job growth from August 2013 to August 2014.
The BLS said Kokomo added 2,300 jobs during that time, upping its job growth rate 5.3 percent.
Meanwhile, Kokomo's unemployment rate dropped by more than two percentage points and its labor force increased by 1,817.
"The Kokomo economy continues to outpace the state and national economies. Our community is thriving at the same time we are making quality-of-life investments for our residents," Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight said.
