Farmer Found Bound And Beaten In Farm Field

(MIAMI CO.) - Indiana State Police are asking for the public’s help after a 70-year-old Miami County man was found severely beaten in a farm field next to his house earlier this week.

ISP said James Hoffman was found with his hands and feet bound in the field, located at 6390 South Miami County Road 250 East, around 10 a.m. Monday.

Police said Hoffman had multiple injuries to his body. As of Friday, he was listed in critical, but stable condition, at a Fort Wayne hospital.

Detectives believe the assault happened between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Monday.

Officers have received information that the suspect is a white, clean shaven man, who is about 5'8" and overweight. At the time of the attack, the suspect was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, black work boots and a blond curly wig.

Police are also looking for a small brown mid-1980's to mid-1990's pickup truck. The truck has a light colored aluminum topper and a loud exhaust.

Information that leads to the arrest or indictment of a felony suspect could make the tipster eligible for a cash reward.
