Mother Arrested After Baby Born With Meth In System

(KOSCIUSKO CO) - A Claypool woman was arrested Sunday after she delivered her baby with meth allegedly present in its system, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

The infant was taken to a hospital where it is in serious condition.

Police arrested 21-year-old Sarah Ann Mills who was found in labor in the front of a yard on 7094 South County Road 100 East in Claypool. Mills was taken to the hospital where a preliminary test on her showed the presence of methamphetamine in both her and the infant's system.

Mills was subsequently arrested and preliminary charged with felony neglect of a dependent. She remains in the Kosciusko County jail under a prosecutorial hold.
