Most events are free and the public is invited to attend.

Fall Family Weekend will kick off on Friday with a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Student Center at 10:30 a.m. (EDT), near the P.E. Complex. At 9:00 p.m. there will be Bingo at the Student Union Food Court and food and prizes will be available.

Saturday events lead off with the Farmer's Market which opens at 8:00 a.m. at the Riverfront Pavilion. Just a block away, on Patrick Henry Drive, will be a Chili Cook-Off and tasting begins at 1:00 p.m. with winners announced at 3:00 p.m.

Touted as "Indiana's most unusual spectacle in racing," the VU Tube Race will begin at Noon at Kimmell Park where ten-member teams of VU students and employees will launch homemade innertube crafts and propel them to the finish line at the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park. The winners will be announced at 2:15 p.m. back at Patrick Henry Drive. A picnic will begin at 12:30 p.m. with entertainment provided by Humming House starting at 1:00 p.m.

VU President Dick Helton will greet students and guests at a reception on the Aquatic Center Patio at 3:30 p.m.

Saturday activities will conclude back on campus with an 8:00 p.m. performance by magician Mat Franco at VU's Red Skelton Performing Arts Center. Tickets cost $10 adults and $8 non-VU students and seniors. Franco is recognized for creating interactive presentations for his audiences that allow for spontaneity and improvisation.

Fall Family Weekend will conclude with a Worship Service on Sunday, 10:30 a.m., at Maria Creek Chapel.
