Trial Date Set For IMPD Officers Accused Of Beating Man At Bar

Last updated on Tuesday, September 16, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A judge set a trial date Monday morning for two veteran IMPD officers for Dec. 8.

The two cops face battery charges stemming from an off-duty bar fight.

John Serban and Michael Reiger were off-duty when they beat a man unconscious last month, according to prosecutors. The fight happened at a south side bar.

According to court documents, security video shows Serban putting the man in a choke-hold until he passed out. Then both officers hit and kicked him while he was blacked out.

Serban and Reiger have been suspended without pay.

They could lose their jobs on the force.
