(CANANDAIGUA, N.Y.) - An upstate New York grand jury has finished hearing testimony regarding Tony Stewart’s role in the on-track death of sprint car driver Kevin Ward.
The Ontario County District Attorney will announce the findings at 3 p.m. Eastern Wednesday.
County District Attorney Michael Tantillo said last week he was taking the matter to the grand jury, which was convened this week. Ward was killed on Aug. 9 when a car driven by the three-time NASCAR champion struck and killed him during a dirt track race in Canandaigua.
Ward had climbed from his car to confront Stewart when he was struck. The 20-year-old died of blunt force trauma.
