(COLUMBUS) - The city of Columbus is gearing up to remove iron and manganese sedimentation for the city's water mains. Columbus City Utilities will do so by flushing all of the hydrants in Columbus over a four-day period beginning on September 8th.

Columbus City Utilities says the iron and manganese pose no health risk to the community, but can be a nuisance in that it can cause discoloration of clothing.

The "Columbus Republic" says customers will probably notice some discoloration of their water during the four days of flushing.
