Last updated on Tuesday, September 2, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police in Indianapolis have released the name of a teenage girl whose body was found badly burned behind a west side home this weekend.

15-year-old Dominique Allen was discovered Sunday afternoon when police say a homeowner was walking his dog in the 1100 block of Elder Avenue.

Detectives said they believe Allen was killed at a different location and then dumped in the yard. The Marion County Coroner's Office has determined her cause of death to be homicidal asphyxiation.

Tuesday afternoon, detectives found Allen's purse and shoes in the backyard of a home in the 1900 block of West 10th Street.

Wayne Township Schools said Allen attended Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center. The school district says it will have extra counselors available to everyone for the rest of the week.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS or 262-8477 to remain anonymous.
