Last updated on Wednesday, August 6, 2014

(JASPER) - 45-year-old Melissa Dolen of Picadilly Circle was arrested after officers were called to Jasper Middle School Monday.

Jasper police received a call from a concerned citizen at 5:30 p.m. reporting there was a woman staggering as she walked from her vehicle to the entrance of the school.

When officers arrived they found a male juvenile locked in the vehicle Dolen arrived in with the windows rolled up.

An officer located Dolen in the school and determined she was highly intoxicated -- she was later found to have a blood alcohol content of .385 percent.

Dolen was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and neglect of a dependent. She later escaped from police and was immediately detained again.

Police transported her to Memorial Hospital for medical clearance before booking her into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:01 p.m.

The juvenile was released to a family member and Dubois County Department of Child Services was notified.
