Teen Accused Of Posting Nude Photos Of Underage Girlfriend Online

Last updated on Monday, August 25, 2014

(CLARKSVILLE) - An 18-year-old’s act of revenge against his girlfriend landed him in jail and has prosecutors calling him an adult felony offender.

Prosecutors said Khaleel Shareef wanted to embarrass and humiliate his 16-year-old girlfriend, but instead ended with him facing felony child exploitation charges.

"It needs to be clear: anytime that you post any type of image online of a person under the age of 18 years of age, a nude photo, or a photo depicting any sexual conduct, is a felony offense in the state of Indiana," said Clark County Prosecutor Jeremy Mull.

On Thursday, police said Shareef got into an argument with his girlfriend as they took a walk in Clarksville and he assaulted her.

He then reportedly stole her phone, posted pictures to her phone, and then posted them to her Facebook page, where they were seen by a large number of people.

Mull said while it may be a joke or an act of revenge for one person, it's criminal and its victims can be traumatized.

"We find that many juveniles are sending photos unclothed or in a compromising situation to someone they might consider a boyfriend or a girlfriend, and parents need to be aware of that phenomenon and counsel their children that these things can come back to haunt them," said Mull.

Shareef is now in the Clark County Jail charged with one count of felony robbery and one count of child exploitation, which is also a felony.
