Sports Complex Hires Manager, Construction Ahead Of Schedule

Last updated on Wednesday, August 6, 2014

(EVANSVILLE) - The Evansville convention and Visitors Bureau introduced Dennis Hodges on Tuesday as the manager of the new baseball and softball complex in Vanderburgh County.

Hodges is also responsible for helping to secure tournaments.

Hodges says he is already planning to connect with everyone he worked with at his previous JOB as a sports facility manager in South Carolina to convince them to bring their business here.

The CVB also provided a construction update on the complex.

Executive Director Bob Warren WEATHER hasn't been a big factor. Warren says in the last working period, there were only 2.5 rain delays.

All eight fields are marked off with fence posts and some have partially constructed dugouts.

The foundation has also been poured for at least one of the three concession stands.

Warren expects most of the construction will be complete before winter comes.

He says if everything continues to go according to plan, the facility will open in the spring of 2015.

So far, one tournament has been booked, which will be played at the complex in early summer 2015.
