Rep. Brooks And Rep. Carson Working "Across The Aisle" To Tackle Crime Problem

Last updated on Friday, August 8, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana Congressional Reps. Andre Carson and Susan Brooks say they’re working “across the aisle” and with Mayor Greg Ballard to address the city’s growing crime problem.

This after the Mayor announced his multi-pronged, anti-crime plan that calls for significant spending on proposed programs.

Democrat Carson says the city's homicide rate demands that they seek out greater funding sources for early childhood education, Cops grants, teen delinquency, jobs programs and other ways to address issues that can lead to crime.

Republican Brooks says she has seen crime and drug issues change as criminals become increasingly clever.

Both representatives spoke after meeting with Ballard Thursday. The Mayor has proposed $25 million in funding over five years for preschool education for needy kids among other anti-crime initiatives.
