Indiana Politicians Frustrated By Poor Communication

Last updated on Monday, August 11, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana’s political leaders have been airing their frustrations recently over being kept in the dark by other political leaders.

Gov. Mike Pence says he learned that 245 unaccompanied immigrant children had been placed in the state through news reports. Republican members of the state's congressional delegation groused that they had no information on where the children had been placed or on the status of their health.

And members of the State Board of Education said they were "stunned" last week upon learning that Democratic schools Superintendent Glenda Ritz had signed a $3 million settlement over ISTEP testing problems close to a year ago but hadn't informed them.

In a forum where knowledge is power, the one-sided communication is rankling both parties. But it's not likely to stop anytime soon.
