Indiana Dept. Of Education Releases Statewide And Local 2014 ISTEP+ Scores

Last updated on Tuesday, August 5, 2014

(UNDATED) - The Indiana Department of Education today released statewide and local 2014 ISTEP+ scores.

Results show increases throughout subject areas at the statewide level with 80.7 percent of Indiana students passing the English/Language Arts portion of the test, up from 79.5 percent in 2013. In Math, 83.5 percent passed, up from 83.0 percent in 2013. Finally, 74.7 percent of Indiana students passed both English/Language Arts and Math, up from 73.7 percent last year.

ISTA President Teresa Meredith responded to the scores with, "I am pleased to see that Indiana students are making progress on ISTEP+ and I congratulate students, teachers, parents and administrators." Meredith said that ISTA does have concerns about how the results might be used. "It's important to remember that the scores are just a snapshot of a student's progress on a particular day and it's particularly important to be cautious about how that data might be used," Meredith said. "But it is good to see positive results in our schools especially when levels of support and resources have declined."
