(SPENCER CO.) - Indiana Conservation Officers are requesting the public’s help in identifying a suspect after a hit-and-run ATV accident that occurred last week near Hatfield.
A male ATV operator in his late twenties or early thirties allegedly struck a thirteen-year-old girl, who was also riding an ATV, before fleeing the scene.
Between 6:30 and 7 p.m. last Wednesday, two thirteen-year-old girls were operating separate ATVs near the intersection of CR 900 W and CR 300 N when a male on a red ATV drove around and collided with one of them, ejecting him and one of the girls. The female suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.
Two unidentified males, one in a blue or gray Ford truck, and the other in a gold passenger car, gratefully stopped to assist the injured at the scene. Indiana Conservation Officers are asking for the public's help in identifying those individuals, in hopes that they could provide valuable information leading to the fleeing suspect's apprehension.
The suspect is described as a male in his late twenties or early thirties, who was operating a red ATV. He possibly suffered a broken wrist and head injuries.
The juvenile victim's name is being withheld pending further investigation. Anyone with any information concerning this investigation is urged to contact Indiana Conservation Officers' Central Dispatch at 812-837-9536.
