(FRANKLIN) - Two men conspired to stage a robbery at a gas station in Franklin, according to police.
On August 7, Franklin Police officers responded to the Admiral Petroleum gas station in the 200 block of West Jefferson Street on an armed robbery report just before 2 a.m.
Responding officers spoke with the clerk who reported being robbed by a white male suspect allegedly armed with a gun, although no firearms were displayed during the robbery. He demanded money and cigarettes before leaving the premise on foot.
On August 12, Franklin Police Detectives arrested Joel D. Glassburn, 22, of Franklin, for conspiring with another 20-year-old Franklin man to stage the robbery reported on August 7.
Glassburn, the store clerk and alleged victim of the robbery was arrested for theft and false reporting. The circumstances involving the 20-year-old accomplice are still under investigation.
Investigators not only believe Glassburn conspired to stage the robbery, but also believe he stole cash deposits from his employer earlier the same night. A portion of the stolen money, along with the clothing wore during the staged robbery, was recovered from the 20-year-old accomplice's home.
