(INDIANAPOLIS) - Authorities have one man in custody, who they believe is responsible for a 2007 murder.

The United States Marshal's Fugitive Task Force Unit apprehended 29-year-old James Bates for the murder of Kenneth Beeler Senior. Bates was arrested for Beehler's murder in 2007, but the charges were dismissed due to evidentiary problems. The case remained unsolved and was transferred to homicide detectives in the Cold Case Unit.

In light of this new information obtained by detectives, a warrant for James Bates was issued on July 2 and an apprehension was made eight days later.

Bates was charged with Murder and carrying a handgun without a license. He was transported and processed at the Arrestee Processing Center in Indianapolis.
