Last updated on Tuesday, July 8, 2014

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) - Louisville Metro Police say they arrested two men Friday evening after they intentionally jumped from the Clark Memorial Bridge - and at least one of them allegedly told officers he did it for $20.

According to arrest reports, it happened at 6 p.m. on July 4. Officers were dispatched to the bridge after witnesses claimed they saw two men jump into the water. Police say they received several calls, and that the callers were afraid that the men were trying to commit suicide, and had been seriously injured.

When police arrived, they allegedly found 36-year-old Lance Gillman walking back up the bridge to get his backpack and shoes. Police say he was one of the jumpers. Police also apprehended 29-year-old Jason D. Clements, who had also jumped from the bridge, according to arrest reports.

Police say Gillman told them he jumped to get $20.

Both men were arrested and charged with second degree disorderly conduct.
