Police Need Help Locating Relatives Of Pedestrian Killed On I-265

(CLARK CO.) - On Monday at 1:10 am, dispatchers from the Indiana State Police took a call of a person walking on Interstate 265 near the Tenth Street, (State Road #62), Exit, in the construction zone.

Shortly after the call, a trooper from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg was checking the area of the report when he saw a semi-tractor and trailer westbound, in front of him, apply his brakes, and then pull to the right shoulder of the roadway.

The semi-tractor and trailer had struck the pedestrian the trooper was searching for.

The semi-tractor and trailer driver, 50-year-old James W Williams, II, from Fairborn, OH, was driving a 2014 International semi-tractor and trailer. He was not hurt.

The pedestrian struck was 66-year-old Larry W. Peyton, from Indianapolis, He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

According to the trooper who witnessed the crash, Larry W. Peyton was walking in the driving lane at the time of the impact and appeared to staggering.

The address listed on Larry W. Peyton's identification, 2502 Mars Hill Street, Indianapolis, IN, was not an accurate address for him. All efforts to locate the next of kin for Peyton have been unsuccessful.

Police need the public's help in locating Peyton's next of kin.
