(WARRICK CO.) - A Warrick County murder suspect preparing to go into trial suddenly accepted a plea deal Tuesday.
In April, Prosecutor JoAnn Krantz filed her intention to seek life without parole against Shawn Grigsby, who is one of four people charged in the February homicide of Joseph Nelson.
Officials say has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder.
Charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and habitual offender have been dismissed.
Four other people are facing charges in the case are Jade Stigall, David Lackey Jr., Kelli Wyrick and Matt McCallister.
The body of the 35-year-old Nelson, of Martinsville, Indiana, was found on a conveyor belt at Alcoa's power plant in Warrick County back in February. Authorities say Nelson died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Court documents identify McCallister as the person who shot and killed Nelson.
Grigsby will be sentenced on September 18. Under the plea deal signed Tuesday, Grigsby is facing just 20 years in prison.
