Last updated on Monday, July 28, 2014

(JENNINGS CO.) - Around 7 p.m. Friday, Indiana State Police arrested 19-year-old Devin Ray Fear of Scipio on a warrant for reckless homicide, Class C Felony and driving while his driver’s license was suspended, a Class A Misdemeanor.

The charges are the result of an exhaustive crash investigation by Trooper Matt Holley into a fatal crash caused by Fear in North Vernon, Indiana on November 27, 2013.

On November 27, 2013 at approximately 10:40 PM this collision occurred on SR 7 north of CR 300 W in Jennings County. The collision involved a white 2001 Chevy full-sized pick-up truck driven by Fear and a gold 2003 Chevy Impala passenger car driven by Michael Clinton Clay Taylor, of North Vernon, Indiana. Taylor was traveling southbound on SR 7 as Fear was traveling northbound on SR 7. Fear's vehicle crossed the center line into Taylor's lane of travel, causing a head-on collision. Taylor died of injuries sustained in the crash the next day.

Fear, who was booked into the Jennings County jail, was 18 years-old at the time of the crash. Taylor was 21 years-old at the time of his death.

Fear's driving privilege was suspended-prior at the time of this crash as a result of failure to file insurance (two times), driving while suspended and repeat insurance violations. The vehicle Fear was operating had no insurance coverage at the time of this crash.
