Doctor Accused Of Attempting To Kill Ex-Wife

Last updated on Friday, July 11, 2014

(PERU) - A Miami County doctor is facing charges for allegedly attempting to kill his ex-wife.

Court documents say Gregory Konrath's girlfriend turned him in to police for the plot to kill his ex-wife. The woman recorded a conversation where Konrath described in detail how he planned to shoot his ex-wife and make it look like a suicide.

The girlfriend also told investigators Konrath said he needed her to be his alibi after the murder, lying to the police by saying he was with her at the time of the murder.

Deputies searched the home shared by Konrath and his girlfriend and located a .38 caliber revolver loaded with hollow point ammunition, like the one Konrath described using in his plan on the recording.

A warrant was issued for Konrath's arrest and he was taken into custody Tuesday. He has been charged with attempted murder and is being held at the Miami County Jail on $250,000 bond.

Konrath has been employed as an orthopedic surgeon at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru.
