Last updated on Wednesday, July 23, 2014

(BICKNELL) - Indiana State and Bicknell Police are investigating a shooting death that ended with the suspect committing suicide.

Police were called to 707 Durbin Street in Bicknell around 2 a.m. this morning after a report that a 33-year-old Paul Ryan Russell, of Bruceville, was shot and killed during an argument with another man.

According to police, at approximately 2 a.m. Russell was standing outside near Durbin and Cherry Streets in Bicknell when he notice 48-year-old Todd Godare, of 403 N. Main St. in Bicknell, walking toward him.

Russell ran into a nearby residence and retrieved a baseball bat before going back outside.

An argument ensued and Godare allegedly shot and killed Russell with a .22 caliber revolver.

Godare left the scene driving his 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

Approximately two-hours later, Vincennes City Police located and attempted to stop his vehicle near McDowell and Washington Avenue. Godare eventually stopped on State Road 61 near Kimmell Road and shot himself.

Investigating officers believe Godare used the same weapon to take his own life.

Police say this is an on-going investigation.
