(COLUMBUS) - Columbus police arrested a local man on an auto theft charge after he was found in possession of a repainted motorcycle with a damaged ignition.

Columbus Police spokesman Lt. Matt Myers said that 43-year-old William A. McClintock was arrested Tuesday evening after Officer Troy Love noticed the suspicious bike parked in the 300 block of Beatty Street.

When McClintock attempted to leave on the motorcycle, he was arrested.

Myers said the cycle had been stolen in Bartholomew County last year.
