7-Year-Old Injured In ATV Accident In Johnson County

Last updated on Tuesday, July 15, 2014

(JOHNSON CO.) - A 7-year-old was hurt Sunday evening in a Johnson County ATV incident.

Indiana Conservation Officers went to the 4500 block of South 537 East in Franklin around 7:00 p.m. on reports a 7-year-old girl driving an ATV had hit a utility pole and was hurt. They discovered she had been driving on the roadway but got distracted, causing her to veer off the roadway and hit the pole.

The girl was cut on her face, but was checked out at the scene and released. Her family later took her to the hospital as a precaution.

She was not wearing a helmet or any other protective gear at the time of the accident. While she was driving herself, adults were watching.

In response to the accident, Indiana Conservation Officers urged the public not to drive ATVs on the roadway unless your county openly allows it and to always wear protective gear, especially a helmet.
