15-Year-Old Killed In Northeast Indianapolis Shooting

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police have identified the person shot and killed Monday evening on the northeast side of Indianapolis as 15-year-old Ja’Vonne Ellis of Indianapolis.

The Marion County coroner said Ellis died from a gunshot wound to the chest, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Ellis was reported shot near E. 38th Street and Station Street around 8:20 p.m. Monday. Officers found the unidentified victim unresponsive on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

Police have not identified a suspect or motive in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
