Last updated on Tuesday, June 10, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - One woman is in critical condition this morning after police say she arrived at an Indianapolis hospital with a gunshot wound to the face.

IMPD detectives say 28-year-old Monique Toney of Indianapolis drove herself to Methodist Hospital around 3:45 a.m. Monday. Police say Toney was driving in the 3400 block of Hovey Street on the northeast side of Indianapolis, when someone fired shots at her car, one of those shots hit Toney in the face. Detectives have been going through the red car Toney drove to the hospital for any evidence that could help in the case.

IMPD's Aggravated Assault team was sent out to the area of 34th and Hovey to continue their investigation into what happened. Several shell casings were found in the street in front of a nearby social club.

So far, no word yet on led up to the shooting or how many people actually fired shot at Toney's car.
