UPDATE: Indiana Conservation Officers have suspended search operations for Steven Seitz today. Conservation Officers will resume search operations tomorrow.
The missing kayaker has been identified as Steven Seitz, 54, of Decatur IN. Search efforts for Seitz are ongoing.
On the evening of 06/27/2014, two male kayakers were kayaking on the St. Mary's river near the 2700 block of North US 33, when one of the kayaks struck a log jam in the river, causing the kayak to overturn. The kayaker was thrown into the water and did not resurface. The kayaker was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.
At 8:22 PM, Adams County Communications received a 911 call advising of the incident.
Conservation Officers and emergency responders arrived on scene and began searching for the missing kayaker, but were unable to locate.
