Police Need Help Identifying Homicide Victim

Last updated on Wednesday, June 11, 2014

(VIGO CO.) - On Sunday, at approximately 8 p.m., a boater called 911 after spotting a body in the Wabash River in Vigo County.

Conservation officers found the body in the river just south of Interstate 70.

An autopsy was performed Monday and the man's death has been ruled a homicide.

Police are not saying how the man was killed at this time, but they do need the public's help identifying him.

The white male is approximately 5'6″ to 5'8″ tall. He has had a past broken right femur, likely within the past five years. His approximate age is between 35 to 55 years old and he has no tattoos.

Vigo County Sheriff Detectives will attempt to use fingerprint technology in an effort to identify the body. However, known fingerprints must have been on file to establish a match.

The public is asked to check in on family members and neighbors, and report any missing person meeting this description.

Persons with information can contact Vigo County Sheriff Detectives at 812-462-3226 or report anonymously at 812-238-STOP.
