Gov. Pence Dedicates Memorial Flagpole At Mansion

Last updated on Wednesday, June 4, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Despite the rain, Governor Mike Pence held a dedication ceremony in his front yard Wednesday morning.

Pence dedicated a flagpole at the entrance of the governor's residence on North Meridian Street. It means a new opportunity to honor Hoosier veterans.

"Thanks to the American Legion, the Department of Indiana and thanks to the generosity of Hoosiers with a good piece of Bedford limestone, now this flagpole will stand proudly outside the entrance of the Indiana governor's residence for generations to come, and it'll be a constant reminder to the service of men and women who've worn the uniform over the history of our state," Pence said.

A memorial plaque on base of the flagpole dedicates it to all Indiana veterans.
