Glaxo Pays $105M In Multistate Settlement

Last updated on Thursday, June 5, 2014

(UNDATED) - Indiana is getting a big pay out in the GlaxoSmithKline multi-state settlement.

Attorney General Greg Zoeller says Indiana's share is $2.1 million that'll go to consumers. They money stems from the $105 million consumer settlement that includes 44 states. It resolves allegations that the company unlawfully promoted asthma drug Advair and antidepressants Paxil and Wellbutrin.

In short, a judgement finds that the company violated consumer protection laws by engaging in off-label marketing or promotional claims not approved or permitted by the Food and Drug Administration.

GlaxoSmithKline must also reform its marketing practices.

Indiana's portion of the settlement will go toward consumer education programs.
