Two Students Arrested After Clinton Prairie Locker Room Assault

Last updated on Tuesday, May 20, 2014

(CLINTON CO.) - Two seniors were arrested after assaulting a freshman in a Clinton Prairie High School school locker room. They both are facing multiple counts of criminal confinement and battery.

19-year-old Kyle Reid Johnson and 18-year-old Austin Thomas Martin were arrested after school Monday afternoon and booked into the Clinton County Jail around 3 pm.

Both Johnson and Martin are facing three counts of criminal confinement and three counts of battery in connection with several locker room incidents.

Indiana State Police were called in to investigate the assault after a teacher at the high school heard rumors of the incidents.

The seniors were suspended after school administrators spoke with at least two witnesses who saw the attacks.

Superintendent Chris Sampson told FOX59 the victim initially claimed he'd been held against his will, and poked in the ribs, but denied it was done in a sexual way. He also said he was fully clothed, and it all happened three times since spring break. The school received the report on April 25 and told authorities.

Days after the incident came to light, the superintendent said the victim came back and added to that story.

Johnson and Martin have bonded out of jail and were scheduled to make court appearances late Tuesday.

Clinton County Prosecutor Tony Sommer says the two will have separate hearings. A probable cause affidavit will be available after the hearings.
