Suspects Still To Stand Trial For In Decade Old Murder

Last updated on Wednesday, May 28, 2014

(WHITING) - Family members of two men shot in a northwest Indiana city say they’re still waiting for justice 10 years later.

Sunday marked a decade since 24-year-old Jason Janek and 27-year-old Kevin Abul-Husn were found dead from gunshot wounds to the head in Janek's truck. Police say they were shot in a Whiting bar.

The Times reports that four men were charged in the deaths, but none have stood trial. Two are in Mexico, one has remained at large and a third was released after charges were dropped in 2012. Charges could still be refiled. One of the suspects was arrested in Mexico by U.S. marshals but was released when Mexican officials intervened.

Janek's sister Kymberli Janek says her family isn't giving up hope that someone will eventually be convicted.
