Man Sentenced To 70 Years For Killing Former Girlfriend

Last updated on Thursday, May 22, 2014

(MOUNT VERNON) - A southwestern Indiana man has been sentenced to 70 years in prison for fatally shooting his former girlfriend last year in front of their teenage son and others.

A judge sentenced Jason Perry during a court hearing Monday. Perry pleaded guilty last month to charges of murder and being a habitual offender for the May 2013 shooting in Princeton that killed 34-year-old Jesica Tice.

The Princeton Daily Clarion reports Perry didn't speak during the hearing. Perry bowed his head as Logan Tice testified, saying he didn't consider Perry his father and describing Perry as a stalker who beat his mother.

Authorities say Perry shot Jesica Tice twice at close range as she and other family members were leaving a Princeton restaurant where they had celebrated Logan's eighth-grade graduation.
