Man Arrested After Injuring Infant Son

Last updated on Friday, May 2, 2014

(CHRISNEY) - A Spencer County man was arrested Wednesday evening on battery charges after he allegedly abused his five-month old child.

Indiana State Police arrested 22-year-old Samuel Brinson of Chrisney after an investigation was started with complaints of possible child abuse.

Officials say Brinson allegedly squeezed the child's abdomen and bit the child's ears when the child wouldn't stop crying.

ISP says Brinson's actions caused bruising to the child.

We're told the child was taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper by his mother, who thought the bruising might have been a rash.

The child was transferred to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville to be further evaluated for internal injuries.

Brinson was arrested and charged with battery causing injury to a child less than 14 years of age.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Spencer County Jail.
