(LOWELL) - An Indiana State Police K9 recently retired after seven years of loyal service in which he was involved in 128 arrests.
Cpl. Mike Jones' partner, Boss, retired May 6. Boss, a German shepherd from Holland, graduated in 2007 after undergoing 17 weeks of intense training, ISP said.
Boss was certified in obedience, evidence search, area and building searches, tracking, aggression control and drug detection.
Over his career, Boss worked with the FBI, DEA, ATF, U.S. Marshal, Gang Response Investigation Team and on numerous details.
ISP said Boss was involved in 128 arrests, 502 searches and helped recover thousands of pounds of cocaine, crack, heroin, ecstasy, methamphetamine and marijuana.
"Boss has proven to be a tremendous service to our citizens and law enforcement," said ISP First Sgt. Terrance Weems. "We are very thankful for his contribution and assistance. He will be missed."
ISP said Boss is now "residing in the lap of luxury" with Jones and his wife in their Porter County home.
