Last updated on Friday, May 23, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is gearing up for Indianapolis 500 weekend, and the weather looks like it will be cooperating.

Chuck Lofton says to expect sunny skies and highs in the 80s. Early morning on race day, the temperature will be around 58 degrees, climbing into the 70s and 80s later. The track temperature could stay under 100 degrees.

Thursday, Indy Lights drivers are on the track for practice until noon, then for qualifying from 1:15 to 2:15 pm. A vintage car exhibition will take place at 2:30 pm and gates close at 4:00 pm. Admission is free.

Yesterday's Community Day at the track started off sunny and bright, but storms moved in later, prompting track officials to shut down early.

Friday is Coors Light Carb Day, starting with a vintage car exhibition at 8:30 am, meet & greet Jim Nabors wristband distribution at 9am, Indy 500 practice at 11:00 am, Indy Lights Freedom 100 Race at 12:30 pm and many other events.
