Friend Verifer App Checks Friends Against National Sex Offenders Registry

Last updated on Tuesday, May 13, 2014

(PALM BEACH CO, Fla.) - A new app for Facebook called “Friend Verifier App” checks your friend list against the National Sex Offender Registry.

The "Friend Verifier App" alerts users if any of their friends are on the registry. It's a free app.

Parent Susan Bullock thinks it's a useful idea. "I think it will be great because kids are always adding friends. It's a contest to see who has the most friends," she said.

The scan color codes results.

Yellow means there is a name match.

Orange means there is a name and a location match.

Red means the friend's name, location and date of birth matches a sex offender's.
