Former Evansville Officer Facing Charges

Last updated on Tuesday, May 6, 2014

(EVANSVILLE) - Former Evansville Police Officer Steve Hicks was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on Monday.

Hicks is charged with invasion of privacy, stalking and harassment.

Police say he violated a protective order.

Hicks was in court on Monday on a civil case and was arrested at the courthouse.

We reported in January that Hicks is suing the city to get his badge and his job back, along with back pay.

Last December, the Police Merit Commission voted to fire Hicks over an on-duty incident involving a woman working at a sports bar.

An investigation by a special prosecutor concluded there was insufficient evidence to prove Hicks committed any crime.

He was never charged in the case.
