(UNDATED) - Indiana’s congressional delegation coasted to victory in Tuesday’s primary.
All six incumbents facing primary challengers crushed them with 71-percent or more of the vote.
The races to oppose them in November were much closer, though nearly all the winners will be significant underdogs in November. The lone exception is the Second District, where Notre Dame administrator Joe Bock cruised past three opponents to claim the Democratic nomination against Congresswoman Jackie Walorski.
North Vernon community activist Sue Heitzman spent no money but pulled an upset in the Sixth District. She beat Democratic Party-backed candidate Lane Siekman by 18 points to win the nomination against Congressman Luke Messer.
Retired Army lieutenant colonel Cat Ping won the GOP nomination against Carson after finishing second in the 2012 primary.
And Democrat Justin Kuhnle leaped from a fourth-place finish two years ago to the night's narrowest victory, winning the nomination against Third District Congressman Marlin Stutzman by 88 votes.
Two teachers earned Democratic nominations in central Indiana. Western Boone wrestling coach John Dale will take on Fourth District Congressman Todd Rokita, while Shawn Denney will challenge Brooks. Former Seymour State Representative Bill Bailey won a four-way Democratic primary for the nomination against Young.
