(CARMEL) - A Carmel High School graduate's first home run of the season has gone viral, mostly because of who caught the ball.

Conrad Gregor, a 2010 Carmel grad and a Houston Astros prospect, hit the homer for the Quad Cities River Bandits Saturday night. His father Marty was watching the game from the top of the right field wall and made a bare-handed grab of the ball.

"As soon as it launched, you knew it was going out, which was really, really exciting and then it was, like, 'Oh my goodness, it's coming right at me' and, you know, 'Can I catch it?'," Marty Gregor said. "Then all of a sudden, it was like, 'Ya better catch it' and the next thing you know, it's right there and it went right into the middle of my hands."

"He just happened to catch the ball bare-handed, that was pretty cool," Conrad said. "Dad, thank you for that. You know, I might have to trade you something for that home run ball. We'll see what we can do."

The home run gave Quad Cities a 4-2 lead in a game they won, 5-2.

"I was so excited for him, because it was a pivotal part of the game," Marty said. "For me, personally, to catch a home run ball from your son, it's the greatest memory I've had so far."

Call it an early Father's Day present from a grateful son who now has a few more Father's Day gifts in mind.

"We'll see what we can do to get him tickets to future...more games so we can get him out there," Conrad said.

Conrad Gregor went to college at Vanderbilt and was drafted by the Astros in the fourth round of the 2013 MLB Draft.
