(FLOYD CO.) - A tort claim filed by a onetime Indiana state trooper acquitted of killing his wife and two young children says he’ll seek $30 million for alleged malicious prosecution.
A notice dated April 16 and delivered to Floyd County officials last week says David Camm will seek the damages for his wrongful convictions, the trauma he suffered while held in prison and his loss of income and emotional well-being.
Juries convicted Camm twice on murder charges in the September 2000 killings of his wife and two children at the family's southern Indiana home. Both convictions were overturned on appeal, and an eight-week retrial last fall ended with his acquittal.
A spokesman for prosecutors says the claim has been forwarded to the Indiana Attorney General's Office.
