(LEBANON) - Police say a central Indiana woman was stopped by a man impersonating an officer.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department says the woman reported being stopped early Monday in a rural area northwest of Indianapolis by a man driving a dark car with a red-and-blue dash light. Police say a man wearing dark clothes approached the woman's car and told her she had been speeding.
When the man told her to come back to his car, the woman told police she asked for another officer to be called to the scene and the man drove away.
Police say the man wasn't wearing anything identifying him as an officer.
The Indianapolis Star reports police in Indiana must be in uniform or in a marked car to stop a motorist.
