(WARRICK CO.) - A threat made on social media directed at Castle South Middle School has the district on high alert.
The Warrick County Sheriff's Office is investigating the threat while parents are getting a letter that explains what happened.
School officials say an anonymous Instagram user made a post indicating at 1:15 p.m. Monday that something bad was going to happen at Castle South Middle School.
Luckily nothing actually did happen, but to be safe the district did ask school resource officers to keep an extra eye out.
The sheriff's office is working to find out who made the post.
The Warrick Superintendent says they don't believe the school was actually in any danger, but they take all threats very seriously and are trying to identify the sender.
Security has been stepped up in the building.
School officials say it's difficult to know when a threat is legitimate or not, but with today's technology and so many social media sites available for anyone to use, they investigate every threat no matter what.
