Smart 911 Helps First Responders Save Critical Minutes In Saving Lives

Last updated on Thursday, April 17, 2014

(VIGO CO.) - A new website that could save your life is up and running.

As of Wednesday, 'Smart 911' is available to all citizens. It is a website that dispatch centers, including Vigo County, will utilize to help first responders save critical minutes when saving a life.

It is free and all you have to do is create a safety profile.

When you call 911 your safety profile will pop-up on the call taker's screen.

If, for example, there is a fire the first responders will know how many people live in your home, the location of bedrooms and what medicine you're allergic to.

'Smart 911' is currently available in 33 states.
