(INDIANAPOLIS) - Severe weather will be possible this afternoon.
Rain will be possible throughout the day with a couple of waves of active weather possible. Overall about 3/5ths of the state is included under a slight risk for severe weather that will include large hail, strong destructive winds, and the potential for tornadoes.
Rain will really pick up throughout the day with severe storms this morning. You may hear a couple of rumbles of thunder but that will be it.
Severe weather concerns pick up into the afternoon. Soundings show moderate cape around 1000 J/kg with modest lapse rates. Data would seem to show a narrow window from about 2pm through 6pm where large hail could be possible. Also throughout the overnight hours small hail could still occur. The further to the south the more chance for severe weather.
Rain will last through most of the week as a stubborn cut-off low continues to churn over Nebraska and Kansas for the next couple of days. Until it either weakens or moves off to the east, the area will continue to see a chance for rain.
This could really take until Friday before the pattern hits. Weather officials are keeping an eye on Tuesday though as low CAPE but moderate to high lapse rates could lead to some isolated storms.
