(LAFAYETTE) - The Tippecanoe County Historical Association wants to sell a historic Lafayette home, but one thing is standing in the way — the price tag.
The Journal & Courier reports that the Association is listing the Moses Fowler House for $1.25 million.
The 162-year-old house in downtown Lafayette has been a local landmark for decades. The Association has used it as a museum for years.
The three-story home was built as a country estate by a 19th-century millionaire. But now, the hardwood floors are piled with boxes and bubble wrap as the Association prepares to move.
Association members say the 9,000-square-foot house is just too much for them to handle.
The home also comes with covenants designed to protect the house's historic status.
