Hot Air Balloon Crashes In Nobelsville

Last updated on Monday, April 7, 2014

(NOBLESVILLE) - The Noblesville Fire Department says a hot air balloon crashed in Noblesville Saturday night.

The hot air balloon went down in the area of 16th and Pleasant Street. A small fire was reported at the scene and was quickly extinguished.

Six people were in the balloon's basket at the time of the crash, but only minor injuries were reported. The balloon departed from Harbour Shores church located at 8011 E. 216th Street in Noblesville.

Initial investigation suggests the balloon was in the process of descending when it collided with power lines in the area. After the collision, the balloon subsequently fell to the ground in an open field.

There were a number of households and businesses that sustained a loss of power as a result of the collision with the power lines.
