(INDIANAPOLIS) - U.S. Marshals arrested a man in Indianapolis Thursday for the 1987 murder of his wife in Guam.
Gary Leon Scaggs was taken into custody at a northeast Indianapolis apartment complex. He was indicted earlier this month in the death of his wife, Tracey Renae Scaggs, in June 1987 by a Superior Court of Guam grand jury.
Scaggs was an airman stationed at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam when his wife died.
Investigators say the case had gone cold, but was revived and the charge against Scaggs was filed after new information was uncovered.
"The apprehension and arrest of fugitives like Scaggs are made possible by the long reach of the U.S. Marshals and cooperation of our law enforcement partners," said U.S. Marshal Kerry J. Forestal.
Task force officers and Indiana State Police troopers assisted in the arrest.
