(FORT WAYNE) - Twenty years have been added to an inmate’s sentence after a December attack left a jail guard with a severe head injury.
Deadrian Boykins had been sentenced to 65 years for murdering a teenager just five days before the Christmas Day attack on jail guard Quinton Greer.
Court documents indicate Boykins and Greer had a disagreement about the television an hour before Boykins hit Greer in the head with a metal food tray and then punched him in the head more than a dozen times. Boykins continued to kick Greer while he was on the floor and threw second food tray at his head. Sheriff Ken Fries said the inmate punched Greer around 20 times. When Fries got the call about what happened, he was told an officer was in a pool of blood with a head injury.
At the time of the attack, Greer had been a confinement officer for three years.
